The Quest for Knowledge 500-Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

$18.95

Unknown artist Flammarion engraving (color added), from L’atmosphère: météorologie populaire, 1888 The Flammarion engraving depicts a legendary scene, but the illustration’s origins have collected their own series of myths. The first documented appearance of the Flammarion engraving is in the 1888 L’atmosphère: météorologie populaire (The atmosphere: popular meteorology) by Camille Flammarion. Little is known definitively about the engraving aside from its original caption: “A missionary of the Middle Ages tells that he had found the point where the sky and the Earth touch.” Inspiringly, many have interpreted the image, reproduced in color on this 500-piece puzzle, as a quest for knowledge.

Beautiiful puzzle in every sense

The pieces are large and easy to handle, with a matte finish which makes them very pleasant to work with in evening lighting conditions - no glare at all. The colors are bright and true, and different enough that there is rarely any question about whether a piece fits or not. This particular puzzle has food for thought as well as being a delight to the eye - a bit magical and fantastical!

Thanks Anne, we're so glad you enjoyed it! :)

Lots of Fun

I really enjoyed putting this puzzle together. Not too challenging--a good balance of color, design, and shape as ways to approach solving.

Thought-provoking.

This puzzle is easier to put together than some for me. However, I found the image thought-provoking and enjoyed thinking about it about as much as putting it together.

Thanks Bonnie! We're so glad to hear the experience of assembling this puzzle was so enriching for you.
