Mike Wilks

The art of Mike Wilks (British, b. 1947) is characterized by intensely realistic (sometimes surrealistic) detail—think art appreciation and a game of discovery, all in one. Wilks began his artistic career at 13 when he won a scholarship to art school. He ran a successful graphic design business for five years before he sold it and began writing and illustrating books in 1975. He rocketed to fame following publication of The Ultimate Alphabet in 1986; the puzzle book was a global bestseller. Each image contains dozens, if not hundreds, of items, all beginning with the same letter of the alphabet. After eight illustrated books, he established himself as a novelist with The Mirrorscape Trilogy, a fantasy adventure series. Wilks, who was the subject of an award-winning British documentary, lives in London. His drawings and paintings now reside in museums, galleries, and private collections around the world.

Lots if fun!!

I had a great time doing this one! Intricate and challenging but not so hard it wasn’t fun too!!! A keeper! First puzzle I’ve done by this artist:wink:

Amazing picture, but piece quality not up to Pomegranate’s usual standard

This image is one of my favorite and was so fun to do. For the picture, I would give 5+ stars! Sadly, the quality of the puzzle pieces was not high and definitely not up to Pomegranate’s usual standard. They were thin and did not hold together. I would give the construction 2 or 3 stars. A real shame, because this puzzle picture was probably my favorite!

Thanks for reaching out! We receive occasional reports that some of our puzzles have a looser fit. To be transparent, we have noticed this ourselves (when we go to pull replacement pieces). Luckily the majority of our puzzles have a tight fit, which makes it far easier for us to pull pieces. We aren't sure why some are looser, but we assume it might be a result of the die cut machine not cutting as tightly for particular puzzles.

Our puzzle sales went up 750% when the pandemic hit, and haven't slowed down. They have kept our business thriving during these challenging times. Lots of things have changed, but our commitment to producing high quality puzzles has not. We hope that you will bear with us as we evolve and fine tune our processes.
