Henricus Hondius (Dutch, 1597–1651) World Map, 1630 From the Novus Atlas This popular baroque-style map was originally designed as a frontispiece to Henricus Hondius’s 1630 revision of the long-lived Mercator/Hondius atlas, a work then being challenged by rival map publishers. The decorations include depictions of the four elements—earth, air, fire, and water—and portraits of Julius Caesar and cartographers Claudius Ptolemy, Gerard Mercator, and Jodocus Hondius Sr. Step back in time as you gain appreciation for the art of cartography while fitting together the 1,000 pieces of this highly detailed, fascinating puzzle.

Old World Puzzle Such fun!

We received this puzzle as a Christmas gift and just finished putting it together. We loved the substantial "feel" of the pieces and how well they fit together. We thought this was going to be a difficult puzzle, but there are many clues and if you sort well and have a "crackerjack puzzle doing" granddaughter to offer a little help, it will go well. Only one small issue, we wound up with two pieces (contiguous) left over. Someone out there has a puzzle missing two pieces!

We're so glad that your gift was enjoyed by all! Extra pieces happen now and again. Consider it a good omen of abundance yet to come. :)

Antique World Map

Enjoyed this puzzle. Disappointed it was missing 2 pieces but relieved Pomegranate has replacement program, especially since the plan is to frame for my office. Will review about customer service once they have a chance to respond to my request. Hope they can make it right as I am ready to start another of their art pieces and have 4 in my cart.

Thanks, Joe! We mailed your pieces on 1/21, so they should be arriving any day now. :)
