Charley Harper

Midcentury modernist Charley Harper (American, 1922–2007) portrayed the natural world with heart and humor. In vivid colors and simple shapes, his cardinals, ladybugs, and clever critters have become icons of wildlife art. His illustrations were published in magazines and books, notably Ford Times and The Giant Golden Book of Biology. A longtime conservationist, Harper created posters for more than 50 nature- and conservation-oriented organizations. His US National Park Service posters—massive, requiring a year each to paint—showcase delightful depictions of entire ecosystems in a style he defined as “minimal realism.” In his adopted hometown of Cincinnati, his public works are the legacy of an artist truly beguiled by the wild, one whose art was a quiet catalyst for ecological action.

Once There Was a Field

I have yet to actually open this and work it. Sorry, can't give an actual review for it, but I do love all Pomegranate puzzles and I simply adore Charley Harper's artwork so when these crazy holidays have passed and I can sit down and relax, I'm going to work this puzzle and think of spring and summer and how I'll go out hiking and walking in a field and think of this puzzle and the warm cheerful thoughts I get from the image!

Missing pieces

We did enjoy putting this Charley Harper puzzle together. We have done all or most of his puzzles. However, we were disappointed with this particular puzzle because it was missing two pieces. While I don't want the same puzzle again, I guess one takes that risk of it happening every now and again.

Thanks for choosing Pomegranate! Our sincere apologies that your puzzle came up short. Missing pieces are not something that is unheard of in this industry, but also not something that we take lightly. We do our best to ensure that all the pieces make it inside the box, but things sometimes happen due to machine and/or human.

We've recently made some changes in the production process that should reduce these odds. We are proud to offer a piece replacement service. You can use the link below to request missing pieces:

lovely!

I had been eyeing this puzzle for quite awhile so I took the plunge and ordered this and 4 others. I generally avoid 1000 piece puzzles, as I'm not particularly skilled at puzzling and tend to get a little overwhelmed with so many pieces. But I just couldn't resist this beautiful design and I'm so glad that I decided to get it. It was a little bit of a challenge, but not the kind of challenge that makes me want to tear my hair out! It was perfect and I really enjoyed working on it. It was missing one piece which is a first, but it didn't spoil the puzzle by any means. The quality of Pomegranate puzzles is outstanding! Tomorrow I begin a new one. Yay!
