Description
Pygmy marmoset
Photograph by Michael Turco

The world’s smallest monkey, the pygmy marmoset (Callithrix pygmaea) weighs in at just three to five ounces when fully grown. Adults reach a maximum body length of around six inches, but their long tails can add another nine inches to overall length. These diminutive primates inhabit the rainforests of the Amazon Basin, living high in the treetops and eating primarily tree sap—though they’ll also partake of fruit, insects, and nectar. Being so small, they must be always on the lookout for predators, including jaguars, ocelots, hawks, harpy eagles, and snakes.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this product supports the Sierra Club’s efforts to preserve and protect the planet.
