The great American artist Winslow Homer settled in New York after the Civil War. There he depicted life in the country and the working people of the Adirondacks, among other daily scenes. In 1873, he began to paint in the demanding medium of watercolor. The works of art reproduced in this notecard set reveal both Homer’s affections for his hardworking subjects and his mastery of watercolor.
