Rosalind WiseFrom exquisite portraits of single blooms to her Flower Cycle masterpiece, Rosalind Wise (British, b. 1949) takes inspiration from nature, painting scenes of gardens and meadows, ponds and paths on canvases typically four to five feet across. Her early work focused on small, singular bits of the natural world. These days, Wise says, her response “is to the colour, tone and movement found there. It is to the tip or balance between order and chaos, freedom or restraint, things separate yet mingling together, all part of the expressive whole.” A native of South Wales, Wise now lives in Gloucestershire, painting a reality that exists outside modern life’s constant consumerism. Her goal is to reconnect us with the beauty and magic of existence.
Lovely! I imagine the delight the recipients of these cards will feel when viewing how the artist has captured the native flowers and grasses. Even the gentle winds are portrayed. Like you are taking a walk among the meadows.
I am sending these cards to my friends who share my appreciation of the beauty of nature in its mostly undisturbed state! Lovely!
Thank you, Cynthia. It sounds like you keep great company! :)
I ordered these beautiful blank note cards to have on
hand. Sometimes card sentiments do not express what
I want to say so these are waiting for me to send the right words to someone. The paintings on the front seem to draw you in.
So glad you found a set that inspires you! It is true that personal expressions cannot be rivaled.
