The attack stance of a hawk, the head-swing of a caribou shedding velvet, the comic strut of a summer owl. Legendary Inuk artist Kananginak Pootoogook is known for his dynamic depictions of Arctic wildlife. He captured their spirit and intelligence with respect and an occasional wink of the eye. Pootoogook spent his early life in a hunting camp near Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Nunavut, and later helped establish the now-famous Kinngait Studios. His artwork was included in their first print collection (1959) and nearly every annual collection since then. Twelve of his inspiring artworks are showcased in this calendar.
