Dancers: Intimate Impressionism Notecard Folio

$12.95 $6.48 Sale

Published with: the National Gallery of Art, Washington

Edgar Degas and Jean-Louis Forain were friends and Impressionist painters who did not choose landscape as their primary subject. Instead, Degas was particularly interested in dance, and Forain, the pulse of Parisian society. Degas was a major influence on Forain, so it’s no surprise to find the younger artist taking his turn at rendering a dancer on canvas, as shown in Behind the Scenes. Each image includes a top-hatted gentleman taking a particular interest in the featured ballerina. Contains five each of the following notecards: Edgar Degas, Dancers Backstage, 1876/1883 Jean-Louis Forain, Behind the Scenes, c. 1880
• 10 blank notecards (5 each of 2 designs) with envelopes
