Greenwich Park Proverbs
, 2008, by Emma Haworth (British)
The urban spaces where people go to play and repose inspire Emma Haworth’s tranquil paintings bursting with life. Haworth visits these city parks and waterfronts throughout the year, observing the changes that come with the seasons, in both the environment and the people and creatures who share it. In this, one of her many London views, summer leisure is in full swing on the Greenwich Park lawn.
Haworth devises images based on reality but also inspired by poems, fairy tales, novels, or biblical stories. Each painting expresses the character of community, the fluctuating beauty of light, and the essence of life in the joyful places where people and wildlife mingle.
