Hampton Court by Tram, 1922

Hampton Court Palace was England’s most significant palace of the Tudor age. King Henry VIII (reigned 1509–1547) spent enormous sums of money turning it into one of the most magnificent palaces in his realm. About three centuries later Queen Victoria opened the palace and its gardens to visitors, creating a major public attraction. Many posters advertising travel to Hampton Court are now in the collection of The London Transport Museum.
