Beth Van Hoesen (American, 1926–2010) created intimate drawings and prints that bring out the beauty, personality, and essence of her subjects. Her artistic approach was shaped by her philosophy that an artist needs to see not only with the eyes but also with the heart. Her work is included in numerous museum collections, including those of the El Paso Museum of Art, Texas; the Racine Art Museum, Wisconsin; the Portland Art Museum, Oregon; the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
