Born in Germany but raised in the United States, Gustave Baumann (1881–1971) attended the Art Institute of Chicago and then studied block printing in Munich. In 1918 he moved to the American Southwest, where for more than fifty years he captured the crystalline light and rich, warm colors of the landscape with affection, grace, and subtlety. This calendar presents twelve of Baumann’s meticulously crafted woodcuts—self-contained small worlds that speak to the heart of simplicity.
All of Pomegranate’s calendars are printed with soy-based inks on FSC® certified paper, which means the paper has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council™ and manufactured by an FSC certified printer.
