  
 From his youth, Frank Lloyd Wright (American, 1867–1959) understood the basic connection between the native land and the buildings that grew out of it. The houses he built across the country involved subtle connections between the needs of clients, the architect’s own evolving ideas about form, and—crucially—the nature of the site.
