Kate Krasin 2018 Wall Calendar
Kate Krasin (American, 1943–2010) was a master of the silkscreen print. For a single print she might use as many as forty successive screens, all cut by hand, to create a detailed, textured work of art. She formulated transparent inks and layered colors, creating an ethereal beauty uncommon for the medium of silkscreen. Drawn to the land and mindful of civilizations that had gone before her, Krasin focused on the landscape and sense of mystery of her native New Mexico. She captured the elusive quality of the light, whether illuminating spring blooms, casting shadows in a forest, or reflecting off freshly fallen snow. Her work ranges from small cards to large, complex prints. More than sixty of Krasin’s artworks can be seen in Kate Krasin: Luminous Prints
