Product Description
Thierry Bisch: A Bestiary 2018 Wall Calendar
Thierry Bisch (French, b. 1953) has long specialized in art with a message. Until the 2000s, when the artist turned his focus to animals, successive series of paintings depicted people—children who bear the burdens of their social history, posh men and women half dressed to expose their human commonalities. Of late, he has brought his critical eye to the plight of animals at risk of extinction with his Delete? project. A number of works from this series appear here, noticeable for their animals whose limbs have begun to fade away. In these paintings, on large canvases often topping six feet, Bisch highlights what could happen if humans don’t take action to save them.

Bisch is the great-grandson of Louis Janmot (1814–1892), a pre-Raphaelite painter and poet. Bisch studied art in Strasbourg and Toulouse and went on to help create and develop Zoulou, a magazine for art designers. His work has been exhibited from Paris to Singapore.
