Product Description

Artist Beth Van Hoesen was born in 1926 in Boise, Idaho. After graduating from Stanford University she studied at San Francisco Art Institute with abstract expressionist Clyfford Still and figurative painter David Park. Park became a major influence on Van Hoesen, inspiring her to eschew abstraction for the expressive realism seen in her exquisite nudes, portraits, still lifes, and animal studies. An acknowledged master of printmaking techniques, Van Hoesen has exhibited worldwide and is represented in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum; Chicago Art Institute; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena; Portland Art Museum, Oregon; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and many other major museums. Her work has also been the subject of several books, including Beth Van Hoesen: Works on Paper (1995), Creatures: The Art of Seeing Animals (1987), and A Collection of Wonderful Things: Intaglio Prints (1972).

Contains five each of the following notecards:
  • Walt Badger, 1982
  • Bobcat (Rufus), 1986
  • Buster, 1982
  • Suffolk Sheep, 1982
